Archdiocesan funds
The funds the Archdiocese itself holds: clergy, heritage, education, the running of the Church.
Archdiocesan fundAn unrestricted gift to the Archbishop's Appeal is allocated by the Appeal to the greatest need across the Archdiocese of Port of Spain: parish support, clergy formation, Catholic education, social outreach and the upkeep of sacred heritage. Every allocation is reported on the transparency pages.
Archdiocesan fundPays for the training of men studying for the priesthood at the Seminary of St John Vianney and the Uganda Martyrs: tuition, board, books and the formation staff who teach them. A gift here funds the priests of the next twenty years.
Archdiocesan fundKeeps the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and the historic churches of the Archdiocese standing: roofs, stonework, windows and the specialist conservation that ordinary parish income cannot carry.
Archdiocesan fundFunds school fees, books, uniforms and transport for children whose families cannot meet them, and the maintenance of denominational schools the state grant does not cover.
Archdiocesan fundThe upkeep and running of Archbishop's House, which is the administrative centre of the Archdiocese and the office through which every parish, agency and school is supported.
Archdiocesan fundThe annual collection forwarded to the Holy See for the Pope's own charitable work: relief after disasters, support for the Church in the poorest countries, and the missions.
Archdiocesan fundProduces the Catholic News, the Archdiocese's radio and television broadcasts and its online catechesis, and pays the small staff and equipment costs that keep all three going week after week.
Archdiocesan fundMeets the medical costs and retirement needs of the priests of the Archdiocese, most of whom have no pension beyond what this fund provides.
Archdiocesan fundHelps parishes that cannot meet their own costs — rural and inner-city parishes in particular — with repairs, utilities and the stipend of their priest.
