Accessibility

The standard this site holds to, how it is tested, and how to tell us about a barrier.

This site is meant to be usable by everyone who wants to give, including people who use a screen reader, who navigate by keyboard alone, who need a larger text size, or who are on a small screen and a slow connection.

The standard we hold to

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, level AA — usually written WCAG 2.2 AA.

How it is tested

Every change to this site is checked automatically before it is released. The giving pages, the cause pages, the covenant enquiry and the email preference page are each opened in a browser, on a desktop screen and a small one, and checked against the axe accessibility rules. The checks also confirm that the first thing a keyboard reaches is a skip link to the main content, that every button and link can be reached and used by keyboard, and that no interactive target is smaller than 44 pixels.

Automatic checks find a good deal and they do not find everything. A full audit by a person, including testing with real assistive technology, is part of this site's launch checklist and is recorded separately.

What we know does not meet it

Nothing is listed here yet. That is a statement about what has been found so far and not a claim that there is nothing to find — this section is where anything known will be written down, plainly, with what we are doing about it.

Telling us about a barrier

If something on this site stopped you giving, or made it harder than it should have been, please tell us. Use the contact details on the contact page, say which page you were on and what happened, and you will get a reply from a person.
